Intramural competition is typically offered in four (4) leagues:
• Competitive (DI)
• Recreational (DII)
• CoRec
• Open (DI & DII)

All Leagues are coed and are open to both females and males. For CoRec leagues, there is a requirement to have a ratio of females to males on the field/court at all times. Ratios vary depending on the sport.

Competitive Balance

Teams are strongly urged to enter into the proper level of competition. Should a team obviously be playing out of their competitive level, the Intramural Sports Office will immediately counsel that team and has the right, at their discretion, to move a team up to the next class level for playoffs. Teams can only play in one of the two leagues (Competitive/DI and Recreational/DII) to encourage teams to sign up for the correct league. Any player who is caught playing for two leagues, will forfeit the games that they participated in. However, this policy does not apply when open leagues are offered.

1. All teams eligible for the playoffs cannot have a forfeit in the regular season
2. Must be over .500% winning percentage to make the playoffs
3. On rare occasions, we will take teams who are at .500% winning percentage
4. Sportsmanship will count in some sports and will be used to determine tie-breakers
5. Teams must have a sportsmanship rating of a six or higher to make the playoffs. There is no exceptions to this rule
6. A rating of a 7 is rated as an average sportsmanship game as the benchmark for the rating

League Details

Leagues are typically five weeks long (4 games with 1 week for reschedules), with every team playing one game per week. Teams are then ranked based on record, sportsmanship, and point differential and seeded in a playoff bracket. The playoffs last one to two weeks and result in one league champion. The entry fee for all officiated team sports and or high impacted facilities is $50 per team. The entry fee for all non-officiated sports varies for the sport. All players must have a SUID to verify their affiliation with Stanford University. Courtesy card holders can participate and will need to contact the IM Director for access to registration.
